2026 HONOREES JAMES & ELIZABETH MOORE

For more than six decades, James and Elizabeth Moore have been devoted leaders in the Columbus Irish community — preserving heritage, faith, and family with warmth and grace.

A lifelong Southend resident, James Moore joined the Shamrock Club of Columbus in 1954 and has been an active member for over 70 years, serving in the Glee Club and as leader of the Club’s Color Guard. A proud four-generation Hibernian, he helped found the Patrick Pearse, Division 1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in 1979 and was honored as Grand Marshal of the 1998 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Elizabeth “Betty” (Daly) Moore, born in Dublin, Ireland, came to Columbus in 1963. In 1975, she co-founded the Shamrock Club Irish Dancers, designing their first uniforms and inspiring generations of young performers. A beloved volunteer with the Emerald Society, she became its first honorary member in 2024.

Together, Jim and Betty have raised four children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren — a living legacy of faith, love, and Irish pride.
