Christina McConahay
Candidate for Secretary
As the Shamrock Club of Columbus proudly closes out its 90th year, we stand at a remarkable crossroads— honoring a rich legacy while preparing to build the foundation for our 100th anniversary and beyond. I am honored to submit my candidacy for the office of Secretary and to offer my continued service to an organization that has meant so much to me and my family for decades. Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of serving the Shamrock Club as a dedicated volunteer, director, and employee. Through these roles, I have gained a deep understanding of our mission, our traditions, and the vital importance of strong organizational leadership. I have seen firsthand the devotion of our members, the impact of our events, and the power of community that defines the Shamrock Club. These experiences have shaped my commitment to preserving our history while ensuring our organization continues to grow, adapt, and thrive. As an officer of the Shamrock Club, I will ensure our members are informed, heard, and engaged, and help to strengthen the sense of community that is central to the Club’s success. I will serve as steward of the Club’s traditions and resources, working to create meaningful opportunities for involvement while supporting the needs and interests of legacy families as well as our new members. Looking ahead to the planning of our 100th anniversary, I believe this is a critical moment to reflect on who we are and who we aspire to be. We must honor the generations who built this organization while also embracing innovation, inclusivity, and long‑term sustainability. I am eager to contribute my experience and institutional knowledge to help guide this process and ensure the Shamrock Club remains strong for the next 100 years. Thank you for your consideration and for the opportunity to continue serving our incredible club.
Tyler Brown
Candidate for DirectorFor those who may not know me yet, my name is Tyler Brown, and l've proudly been a member of this club for over a decade. Over the years l've tried to contribute however I could-helping organize events, volunteering when things needed to get done, and supporting the traditions that make this club special. I've also had the chance to work alongside many great members, welcome new faces, and be part of keeping Irish culture and community strong here. I believe there are great opportunities for our club to grow while staying true to who we are. My goal isn't to change the character of the Shamrock-it's to strengthen it. I'd like to see us continue building membership by creating events that bring in people who genuinely appreciate Irish culture, community, and the traditions we share. I also believe representation matters. If elected, I'll make it a priority to be present and active, not just at meetings, but at events and in the everyday life of the club. I want to help make sure it continues to thrive for all of us and for the next generation who will call it home. Thank you for your time, and I'd truly appreciate your support.
Ken Bowen
Candidate for DirectorI have been a member of the Shamrock Club for over 25 years. My children grew up here, and now my grandchildren love coming down to enjoy the playground, which I will help spruce up in the near future. My son Nick is now drum major with the Shamrock Club Pipes and Drums. To me, a club is like a family that you choose to be a part of. You may go through ups and downs; you may have disagreements among members along the way, but you maintain your commitment and loyalty because it’s your club. I want to join the Executive Committee to help lead the club through a changing environment. I have prior experience on boards, having served on the board of trustees of Charity Newsies, Columbus Country Club, and The Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation. Serving on GCICF’s board and acting as Chairman for a few years was my way of indirectly supporting the Shamrock Club. As chairman, I refocused the Foundation on assisting in SC’s cultural events, like the feis and parade. I doubled the foundation’s grant for the parade to $5,000. I will work hard for you. A vote for Kenny is better than any!
Doug Eakins
Candidate for DirectorMy decision to be a candidate for the Shamrock Club is based on Experience. During my Twenty Years service on Council in West Jefferson. I have delt with and solved problems; working with Federal, State and local EPA, ODOT on highway construction, Zoning and Planning Boards, and Balancing the budget. I will be an asset on the E-Board that will help to minimize the impact Club experience, when the new construction begins. It will have an impact, and the Officers and Board must be ready to deal with the ramifications. My experience also includes serving on the Central Ohio Anglers & Hunters Club (501-C4) with 2-year terms each as Treasurer, Vice President, President and many years on the BOD. I presently am Vice-President of the COA&H Inc.; the Clubs (501-C3). In those positions we applied for and received grants from Ohio Division of Wildlife to augment the Club funds to finance our many programs. The C-3 allows for tax deductible donations for our Youth, Family, and Disabled Veterans actives. My experience and service also extends to Scouting, Jaycees, Community Organizations, AOH as well as The Shamrock Club. I am confident that with the benefit of my Experience, the leadership will guide the Club wisely into the future
